A lot of people come to Wayne County to visit Capitol Reef. Sometimes, however, it’s nice to know what else you can do in the county. To help you find some extra fun, we at the Lodge at Red River Ranch have compiled a list of the best things to do in Wayne County.
Guided Fly-Fishing Trips – no matter your skill level you will enjoy these trips. Local guides will show you the best fishing rivers and lakes in Wayne County. You can hone your skills and learn from the best. We at the Lodge have a partnership with Backcounty Outfitters, and we encourage you to use them for all your fishing excursions.
Wayne County Theatre – is our own quaint theatre in Bicknell, Utah. In fact Bicknell is the smallest town in the nation with its own currently-operating movie theatre. Every July the Bicknell International Film Festival (BIFF) is held here. The festival is a lot of fun; visit the BIFF website for more info. Even if you aren’t around for BIFF, consider catching a show when you are in town. Check out the Wayne County Theatre’s Facebook page for upcoming show times.
ATV or Jeep Tours – there are various ATV/Jeep rental companies in the county that provide tours. (They also teach you how to safely operate off-road vehicles.) These companies will take you to trails in the deserts or mountains where you can enjoy the scenery and the open throttle. You will get to see a lot more of Wayne County and have a great time.
Of course, there are always local events happening. Torrey, Utah hosts quite a few celebrations and festivals. We hope that you will have a great time in Wayne County – in addition to Capitol Reef.
