Every year the scenic town of Torrey, Utah puts on it’s Independence Day celebration. Known as Torrey Apple Days, this party is the perfect expression of small-town America. This year the event kicks off on the Saturday following the 4th. (So July 6th.) We at the Lodge encourage you to come to town and check out Torrey Apple Days.
Be sure to come early to shop at the pre-parade flea market. Homemade goods are bought and sold at the various booths. There are some killer jams to be found. The parade starts at 10:00am, so pick a shady spot under the big cottonwood trees and enjoy the sights. The kids can pick up as much candy as they can get their hands on. After the parade, check out some of the other activities: pie eating contest, river apple race, BBQ lunch, etc. Spend the day enjoying independence and good-old fashioned fun.
Later in the day, drive into Capitol Reef National Park. Stop by the Gifford House and pick up some more delicious treats. Take a hike in a canyon trail to avoid the heat. (Something like Cohab or Grand Wash.) And just have a day worth remembering. We at the Lodge at Red River Ranch hope to see you at this year’s Torrey Apple Days.
