This upcoming weekend is Torrey Apple Days! In case you are unfamiliar with Apple Days, it is the best small-town Independence Day ever. Ever. The scenic tree-lined streets of Torrey and the fantastic background of red-rock cliffs set the stage for a picture-perfect celebration.
So mark your calendars for the Saturday, July 2, 2016 – you’ll want to be there. Here’s the schedule of what to expect this year at Torrey Apple Days:
Torrey Apple Days:
7 – 9am: Boy Scout Breakfast fundraiser. Located at the Torrey Town Pavilion. Cost is $25 for families, $7 for adults, and $5 for children.
7am: Race for the Apple. Registration begins at 7am at the Torrey Town Hall. Race begins at 7.30am. Cost is $20 to run, $10 to walk.
8am – 3pm: Swap Meet at the Torrey Town Park. The perfect place to find collectables and hand-crafted goods.
8am: Classic Car Show. Located at 875 N, SR 24 (don’t worry, you can’t miss it.) Prizes will be awarded at 3pm. Enter the raffle while you’re there.
9am – 3pm: Color Country Animal Welfare Charity Yard Sale. Located at 87 W. Main street.
10am: Torrey Apple Days Parade. The main attraction, so to speak. Find a seat anywhere on Main Street.
10am – 2pm: Entrada Institute Book Sale Part 1. Located at the Torrey Town Park.
10.30am – 3pm: Children’s Games. There will be a bouncy house, water slide, foam frenzy, sand volley ball, food and more. Cost is $10 to $20, depending on the events
11am: Pie Eating Contest. Located Torrey Town Pavilion. Cash prize of $100 to the winner. As if all that pie wasn’t reward enough.
1pm: Patriotic Program. Located at the LDS chapel.
3pm: Apple Derby. Don’t know what an Apple Derby is? Now is your chance to find out. Starts at the Torrey Trading Post on Main Street. Prizes include a BBQ, bikes, and gift certificates. Tickets available at the Chuck Wagon.
3pm – 6pm: Entrada Institute Book Sale Part 2. Located at the Robber’s Roost.
3pm –8pm: Entrada Presents. An afternoon of local musicians. The line-up includes: Women’s Barbershop Quartet, Group Therapy, Jackson Jills, Between the Covers, and Mark Chaney Trio.
8pm – 12pm: The Big Apple Dance. Cost is $3 per person, and $5 per couple.
