You’ve visited Zion, what’s next?

Many of the guests at The Lodge at Red River Ranch make a similar comment. They’ve toured Zion National Park, but they are left wondering what they should do next. Any trip into Zion is both memorable and exciting, but you can almost certainly add to that experience. Here are our suggestions for a better vacation in Southern Utah’s playground.

Try the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City Utah. Cedar City is only forty minutes from Zion’s gateway city of Saint George. In Cedar you can catch a play from one of the hundreds of productions that are put on each year. Obviously, most of the plays are Shakespearean, but you’ll be able to find a number of contemporary shows as well. Cedar City also hosts the Festival of Homes, if you enjoy seeing different interior styles and designs.

Kolob Canyon is a rarely visited part of Zion National Park. If you’ve already paid to enter the park, you can drive through the canyon at no extra cost. Many visitors like to take some time to paint or photograph the remarkable canyon walls. The entrance to Kolob Canyon is between Saint George and Cedar City.

Saint George can be a fun place to spend a day. Enjoy some shopping, catch a movie, or just hang out at the pool. There are several excellent restaurants that we like in Saint George. Try them out.

If you haven’t got your fill of nature (and who ever has) visit Quail Hollow State Park and try some boating and fishing. Take one of the scenic routes in that area. Jeeping in Moab is always good fun. Visit Bryce National Park with its cool hoodoos, go cliff jumping at Lake Powell in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, or come see our part of the world near secluded Capitol Reef National Park.

Hopefully this will help you think of ways to add to your vacation. If you still need some ideas for planning a trip around Zion National Park, we at The Lodge at Red River Ranch are always ready to lend a hand.
