January Sunshine

January Sunshine

This winter has been unusally warm. And we at the Lodge at Red River Ranch think that is a great thing. It means you can get outside, breath in some fresh air and play in the sun. If you’re looking for a quick weekend get-a-way, we’ve got a couple of suggestions for you.

Suggestion One – Stay away from water. It’s not that warm.

Sugestion Two – Head to Zion Canyon. There are very few people in the national park at this time of year, so you basically have the place to yourself. If there is no snow on the peaks, consider climbing Angels Landing or the Patriachs. And if you head to the Mesa region of Zion – where most of the foliage is of the pine variety – you might just forget its January all together.

Sugestion Three – If you’re willing to drive a little farther, the Grand Canyon might just be the perfect mid-winter vacation. The weather promises to be good, the sights even better. The south side of the canyon should be the sunniest. And predictably, less crowded than during the summer months.

Suggestion Four – Check out the Panoramaland section of South-Central Utah. Capitol Reef, the San Rafeal Swell, Moab and Arches Nationl Park are all located in this region. There are plenty of ATV trails, world-class hikes, and stunning views to be found. With all that desert play in, you can have a good time, see the sights and get a summer tan before summer. (Well, at least on your face and forearms.)

We at the Lodge don’t believe winter has to be bleak. Go find some excitment and sunshine in Southern Utah.
