Torrey Apple Days 2014

Posted in: Education, Entertainment, Travel on June 30, 2014.

It’s mid-summer and things are happening here in Southern Utah! This friday is, of course, the 4th of July. And If you’re anything like us, you celebrate Independence Day by taking a mini-vacation. And if, on said mini-vacation, you find yourself in our neck of the woods (metaphorically speaking, because, you know, we live in the desert) here are a couple of things to check out this 4th of July weekend:

Torrey Apple Days – for those of you not yet acquainted with Capitol Reef and the surrounding countryside, Torrey is the gateway town to the national park. And every year on the Saturday nearest the 4th of July, the town holds it’s own special celebration – Torrey Apple Days. If you were to search the nation over, you couldn’t find a better example of Small Town America’s Independence Day. There is a classic car show and competition, a breakfast cookoff fundraiser, a parade, a horse show, a quilting show, and a flea market. This year Torrey Apple Days will take place on the 5th of July, 2014.

The Continuing Adventures at the Robber’s Roost – every week at the Entrada Institute hosts a guest lecturer who discusses topics relevant to Southern Utah. During the summer they also have the occasional Cowboy Dinner, which features a steakhouse dinner and a feature film. For more information about their upcoming events, and how you can get involved in what they do, check out the Entrada Institute website here. This Independence Day Weekend go check out the live music at the the Robber’s Roost.
