Most people come to Southern Utah for the amazing physical activities that can be enjoyed here. Hiking, cycling, climb, whitewater rafting and horseback riding are some of the more popular ones. And these are all fun, without question, but some people like to go a little faster. Which is why ATV trails are so awesome.
If you are interested in ATV, UTV, OHV, or Jeep trails in Southern Utah, we compiled a short list of the best ones we know about. These are all accessed via Highway 24. (A special thanks to Capitol Reef Country for the information. Check out their full ATV list here.)
Planets of the Past – If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to rover across Mars (and who hasn’t, really?) this is the closest you’ll likely get. In fact, it is so similar to the Red Planet, there is a research center out there. All of the trails in this area are easy. This trail is located on the North River Road just off Highway 24.
Horseshoe Canyon – The canyon itself is a historical marvel, filled with thousands of petroglyphs. But in order to access the canyon proper, you will have to hike from where the ATV trail ends. The trail itself is 27-miles of easy riding through amazing scenery. The main access for the trail is off Highway 24, on the same road that leads to Goblin Valley
Moonscapes and Goblins – This trail loops from Factory Butte to Goblin Valley, it is approximately 40-miles. This trail is classified as moderate and includes rocky terrain and one river crossing. Along the way, be sure to stop by the Skyline View Overlook. It makes it all worth it.
If you happen to be staying with us at the Lodge at Red River Ranch, you are welcome to bring your own ATVs or UTVs. But if you find yourself in need of a rental, we’d be happy to help you out. Check out our web page to see what we have to offer. And happy trails.
