Do the San Rafael Classic Triathlon
Posted in: Outdoor adventures on January 15, 2017.
It’s a new year, and if you’re anything like us, you’ve made a resolution or two. We all know that the most popular resolutions are about improving health and fitness. We at the Lodge think we know of a way to keep you motivated at the gym this year – sign up for the 2017 San Rafael Classic Triathlon!
The San Rafael Classic Triathlon is an event held ever year at Huntington State Park. The park is beautiful with a an awesome little lake. And the distinct “Castle Country” scenery will almost make you forget about your aching muscles. Here are the details about the triathlon:
There are two races you can enter, the Sprint and the Olympic. As the name implies, the Olympic is harder and longer (about twice as long to be exact) than the Sprint race. So if this is your first triathlon, you can do the (relatively) easier route. Of course, both races involve a lap in the lake, then a hardcore bicycle section (please don’t forget your bike) and finally a trip around the lake on foot.
There is a sort of party the night before the race. A pasta dinner will be served at the Huntington State Park Campground. If you’re a registered racer, you get to eat for free. And if you’re there to support a registered racer, you can buy a plate for yourself. There will be live music as well.
The race begins on Saturday, July 15th 2017 at 6.30am. Make sure you get there early enough to get your body markings and suit-up in your wetsuit (not required, but recommended). The cost to register is 60 dollars for an adult and 25 for a junior.
So this year, make your fitness resolution a reality and crush this triathlon. You can register online here. Good luck and good training.
