Winter is fast arriving in Southern Utah. Which as we may have mentioned before, shouldn’t spoil your fun. But maybe you’re not up for skiing at Brian Head, or snowmobiling at Fish Lake, maybe you just want to hang out in the sun for a week. If that’s the case, we suggest a golf vacation in Saint George.
Saint George is like golf heaven. It’s got ten first-rate golf courses, all really close together. They’re cheaper than the courses in Scottsdale, Vegas or Palm Springs. And a lot prettier too. But the best part is that they’re open all year long. So you can work in a little tee time on your trip to Bryce Canyon this December. Or just hang out in Saint George, golf and shop.
Two of the best golf courses in Saint George are – in our opinion at least – are Sky Mountain and Sand Hollow.
Sky Mountain – Surrounded by the beauty of Zion National Park and the Pine Valley Mountain Range, Sky Mountain is an 18-hole course owned and operated by the city of Hurricane, Utah. (Hurricane is basically a suburb of Saint George.) It’s got all the amenities you need, like a full service shop, and is priced very reasonably. But most importantly, it’s a blast to play among all the red rock.
Sand Hollow – Sand Hollow is a bit more prestigious, with a couple different courses to choose from. Play on the Championship Course or the Links Course, depending on what type of game you want. (They even have a Wee Course – Southern Utah’s only par–3 course.) The scenery is great, the amenities abound, the rates are pretty good for the area, and they’ve got the awesome Sand Hollow Grill.
So go get some sun this winter and go golfing in Saint George!
